Busy Weekend with Mamma

We just got back, well on Tuesday, from a great weekend in Denver. Chantry, the kids and I flew to Denver to see my mom last Friday. It's only a 2 1/2 hour flight so not too bad for the kids. Both Griffin and Morgan seem to be good little travelers. We hung out most of Friday and then met up with Karl (Opa) that night at Tequila's, a Mexican restaurant. The next day was pretty rainy and cold so we decided to hang out at the mall and do some shopping. It's always funny to see my mom shop for her grandkids, especially Morgan (after all girl clothes are way better than boys). She spoils them rotten and likes to buy them everything under the sun. On Sunday the weather was shaping up quite well so we took a trip to the Denver Zoo. The kiddos had a blast there. Both of them love animals, and truely enjoyed the train and carousel. For dinner we went to PF Chang's. Oh how I wish they had one of those in Medford. Delicious! Chantry and I are thinking of taking a special trip to Eugene just to eat there again (it's the nearest one). On Monday we had to make a must stop at the Coors Brewery to buy souvenoirs, and then chilled the rest of the day. Tuesday was also mellow. We went to Clive Cussler's car museum, which was awesome. Then flew home later that evening.
It was a great trip. Really good to see my mom, whom I miss dearly. Can't wait for her to retire and move back to Oregon. It was also good to be home. The kids and I all missed Ryan, believe it or not. And I'm fairly certain he missed all of us. Short trips like that are a necessity, I think. They make you re-align your thoughts about the people you spend the most time with, and really just get an appreciation for home and family.
Just posted an album of some pics. Check it out: http://picasaweb.google.com/redneckfamily

Fun with Fondant

I made a cake for my good friend Tawny's baby shower over the weekend. It was so much fun to make. I went to a different baby shower a few weeks ago, and they had a gorgeous cake, which inspired me to try making one myself. So here it is! The ironic part is Tawny's last name is "Wine", so the phrase at the top "Baby Wine" does NOT necessarily refer to the voluptuous objects below. Kinda funny though, eh? I think I could really get into this cake-making thing!

Beautiful Tawny, due in just a few weeks!
